will depend upon your medical history.
After you have received your initial quotation for insurance,
the Insurance Company will ask you to complete an application
form. This contains a section about you health both past and
present.
Base on the information you provide, the Insurance Company
decides whether it requires more information about your health.
This does not necessarily mean that you will need to have
a medical as, in the majority of such cases, the Company gets
the information it needs, with your approval, from your GP.
Dependent upon the answers on your application or what your
GP’s report shows, the Insurance Company may decide
it needs another opinion or an up to date report on your health.
In these circumstances it will require you to have a medical.
There are two types of medical; a short visit to your home
by a medical representative from the Insurance Company or
a more in depth assessment at Doctors/Consultants offices.
In both cases, the life insurance Company pays the entire cost
of the medical.
The medical report is always the property of the Insurance
Company and the findings will not be disclosed to you. However,
if anything of real concern is discovered the Insurance Company
or Doctor will normally tell you about it.
Finally, we must remind you that you must always truthfully
answer the questions on your application form. If you do not,
then any subsequent claim will be invalidated.
